Petts Wood Football Club started in 1946 and for forty two years was a senior club. This changed in 1988 when the Youth Section was introduced. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and in 2014/2015 has 40 teams including 5 girls teams with 450+ playing members between 6 and 35.

It is a values based grass roots football club committed to the development of boys and girls of all ages and ability. As well as the benefits to the players themselves, the club encourages young people to become coaches at the club as a stepping stone to a further career. It subsidises their training, supports them with older volunteer managers and provides part time employment experience.

In line with this development philosophy the club has been part of the Jack Petchey Foundation since 2010. The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people to help them play a full part in society.

The club operates to the highest standards in grassroots football – It is an FA Charter Standard Community Club, winning 2 awards in 2013.

These were the result of the fantastic work that was done to provide a new club house. Using reclaimed modular units donated to the club, and many other recycled items the club can now provide changing, social and classroom facilities of a high standard.

The next step in the journey is to equip the clubhouse with solar panels to offset its energy use. This will free up operational costs to invest in supporting the members and ensure the club grows in an environmentally sustainable way.
